The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ clean and strip disc measures 4" diameter by 1/4" thickness and features an extra coarse silicon carbide grit designed for effective cleaning of welds, rust removal, and paint stripping. This non-woven disc, constructed with an open-web design and aggressive abrasive properties, provides a smooth running wheel that resists loading when removing soft coatings. The extra coarse silicon carbide abrasive mineral, a synthetic and very sharp material commonly used for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation, produces a superior finish despite breaking down faster than aluminum oxide. The disc is a safe alternative to wire brushes, offering a greater surface area and leaving a finer finish that may eliminate the need for additional finishing steps. Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives incorporate abrasives into non-woven nylon or other synthetic fibers, creating a consistent abrasive system that maintains high performance by limiting clogging through its load-resistant open-web material.
