The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ EXL Deburring Wheel measures 14" x 2" x 8" and features a medium grit aluminum oxide abrasive mineral. It has a hard, dense consistency designed to quickly deburr, finish, and polish various materials including metals, composites, and glass, leaving a smooth, clean surface without smearing, which reduces the need for additional cleanup and preparation. The wheel's conformable nature makes it especially suitable for deburring stamped or laser-cut parts and finishing after belt sanding. Its convolute construction enables uniform wear and smooth operation, minimizing operator fatigue while delivering a professional finish. The Scotch-Brite material runs cool, exposing fresh abrasives continuously, which is beneficial for heat-sensitive substrates and extends the wheel's service life. Options include silicon carbide, a sharp synthetic mineral ideal for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation and finishing, which breaks down faster but produces a finer finish, or aluminum oxide, a hard, blocky mineral that offers a high cut rate and long life. The wheel is made from abrasives incorporated into non-woven nylon fibers, creating an abrasive system that ensures consistent results throughout the product's life.
