The 3M™ PSA cloth disc 348D is a heavy-duty 6" sanding disc with a 36 grit aluminum oxide abrasive designed for high heat and demanding sanding applications. It features a high-strength pressure sensitive adhesive backing that securely adheres to a backup pad or steel platen for efficient use and clean removal. The disc utilizes a heat-resistant resin bond and a cloth backing to ensure durability and stability under high heat and pressure conditions. The aluminum oxide abrasive is arranged in a closed coat pattern, providing fast cutting performance suitable for grinding and dual action sanding on metal surfaces. This versatile disc is ideal for deburring, blending, cleaning up, and finishing metal parts and surfaces of various sizes and shapes. The PSA disc is designed to be pressed onto a backup pad (sold separately), which then attaches to a disc sander, random orbital sander, or stationary disc sander. Aluminum oxide is chosen for its fast cut rate, toughness, self-fracturing properties that expose fresh cutting edges, and low heat retention, making it suitable for a wide range of materials including ferrous alloys. Recommended applications include blending, deburring, grinding, orbital sanding, and processing in metal fabrication and primary wood and panel industries.
