The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ EX2 deburring wheel measures 8" x 1" x 3" and features a medium grit aluminum oxide abrasive. This convolute-constructed wheel provides mid-range aggressiveness and hardness, making it suitable for deburring, edge radius, blending, polishing, and finishing tasks. It performs best when consistently presented with a sharp edge or metal burrs. The combination of mineral aggressiveness and wheel density offers moderate conformability, hardness, and edge retention. A unique resin system minimizes smearing and heat buildup, while the open-web construction ensures the wheel runs cool and resists loading to reduce part discoloration, warping, and extend the wheel’s lifespan. The EX2 wheel is available in both fine and medium abrasive grades, using either silicon carbide or aluminum oxide minerals. Silicon carbide, a synthetic mineral, is sharp and suited for low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing, producing a finer finish but breaking down faster than aluminum oxide. Aluminum oxide is a hard, blocky mineral that provides a high cut rate and long life. Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives integrate abrasives into non-woven nylon or synthetic fibers, creating a surface conditioning product that delivers consistent results throughout the product life. The open-web material runs cooler and resists loading, maintaining abrasive performance by limiting clogging. Typical applications include blending, deburring, finishing, flat finishing, and polishing of builder’s hardware, medical instruments, metal fabrication, metal implants, and plumbing fixtures.
