The 3M™ PSA Cloth Disc 348D 8" x NH 40 grit aluminum oxide is a heavy-duty sanding disc designed with a high-strength pressure sensitive adhesive backing that adheres securely to a backup pad or steel platen for efficient application and clean removal. It features a heat-resistant resin bond and cloth backing, making it suitable for high heat and heavy-duty sanding applications. The disc contains aluminum oxide abrasive particles in a closed coat, providing a fast cut for grinding and dual action (D/A) sanding on metal. This versatile disc delivers efficient deburring, blending, cleaning, and finishing of metal parts and surfaces of various sizes and shapes. The PSA disc is pressed onto a backup pad, sold separately, which attaches to disc sanders, random orbital sanders, or stationary disc sanders. Aluminum oxide is favored for its fast cut rate, long life, toughness, durability, and self-fracturing properties that expose fresh cutting edges during use. It is suitable for woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The heat-resistant resin bond ensures the abrasive remains stable under high heat or pressure. Typical applications include blending, deburring, flat area sanding, grinding, orbital and random orbital sanding in metal fabrication and primary wood and panel processing industries.
