The 3M™ PSA cloth disc 348D 6" x NH 60 grit aluminum oxide is a heavy-duty sanding disc designed for high heat and heavy-duty sanding applications. It features a high-strength pressure-sensitive adhesive backing that adheres efficiently to a backup pad or steel platen, ensuring clean removal. The disc comprises aluminum oxide abrasive particles in a closed coat on a cloth backing with a heat-resistant resin bond, providing a fast cut for grinding and dual action (D/A) sanding on metal. This versatile disc is suitable for deburring, blending, cleaning up, and finishing metal parts and surfaces of various sizes and shapes. The PSA disc is pressed onto a backup pad (sold separately) that attaches to disc sanders, random orbital sanders, or stationary disc sanders. Aluminum oxide is chosen for its fast cut-rate, long life, toughness, and ability to self-fracture, exposing fresh cutting edges during use. It is effective on a wide variety of materials including ferrous alloys and is widely used in grinding, sanding, and finishing applications. The heat-resistant resin bond maintains adhesive stability under high heat and pressure. Typical applications include blending, deburring, flat surface grinding, orbital sanding, random orbital sanding, and metal fabrication, serving industries such as metal fabrication and primary wood and panel processing.
