The 3M™ PSA cloth disc 348D measures 9 inches in diameter with a NH (non-hole) configuration and features 60 grit aluminum oxide abrasive. This heavy-duty sanding disc has a high-strength pressure-sensitive adhesive backing that adheres securely to a backup pad or steel platen for efficient application and clean removal. It incorporates a heat-resistant resin bond and cloth backing, making it suitable for high heat and heavy-duty sanding tasks. The disc's aluminum oxide particles in a closed coat provide a fast cut rate, ideal for grinding and dual action (D/A) sanding on metal surfaces. This versatile disc facilitates deburring, blending, cleaning, and finishing of metal parts and surfaces of various sizes and shapes. The PSA backing allows it to be pressed onto a backup pad, which is sold separately and attached to disc sanders such as random orbital or stationary sanders. Aluminum oxide is chosen for its durability, self-fracturing abrasive properties, fast cut rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, suitable for grinding, sanding, and finishing a variety of materials, including ferrous alloys. The heat-resistant resin binder maintains bond stability under high heat or pressure. Typical applications include blending, deburring, working flat areas, grinding, and orbital sanding in metal fabrication as well as primary wood and panel processing industries.
