The 3M™ PSA cloth disc 348D is a 3" diameter, 50 grit aluminum oxide heavy-duty sanding disc designed for high heat and heavy-duty sanding applications. It features a high-strength pressure-sensitive adhesive backing that securely adheres to a backup pad or steel platen for efficient use and clean removal. The disc utilizes a heat-resistant resin bond and cloth backing, providing durability and stability under high heat and pressure. The aluminum oxide abrasive particles are arranged in a closed coat, allowing fast cutting for grinding, dual action sanding on metal, and efficient deburring, blending, cleaning, and finishing of metal parts and surfaces of various sizes and shapes. This PSA disc is compatible with disc sanders, random orbital sanders, and stationary disc sanders, requiring a backup pad sold separately. Aluminum oxide is chosen for its fast cut-rate, long life, hardness, strength, and ability to self-fracture to expose fresh cutting edges, making it suitable for woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. Typical applications include blending, deburring, flat area sanding, grinding, orbital sanding, random orbital sanding, metal fabrication, and primary wood and panel processing in industries such as metal fabrication and wood panel processing.
