The 3M™ PSA cloth disc 348D is a 16" diameter, 60 grit heavy-duty sanding disc featuring a high-strength pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) backing designed to adhere securely to a backup pad or steel platen for efficient application and clean removal. It incorporates a heat-resistant resin bond and a cloth backing, making it suitable for high heat and heavy-duty sanding tasks. The disc utilizes aluminum oxide abrasive particles in a closed coat configuration, providing fast cutting for grinding and dual action (D/A) sanding on metal. This versatile disc is ideal for deburring, blending, cleaning, and finishing metal parts and surfaces of various sizes and shapes. It is intended for use with disc sanders, random orbital sanders, or stationary disc sanders with a compatible backup pad, which is sold separately. The aluminum oxide abrasive is known for its fast cut rate, long life, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, making it suitable for a wide range of materials including ferrous alloys, and widely used in both woodworking and metalworking applications. The heat-resistant resin binder maintains bond stability under conditions of high heat and pressure. Typical applications include blending, deburring, grinding, flat area sanding, and orbital or random orbital sanding in metal fabrication and primary wood and panel processing industries.
