The 3M™ PSA Cloth Disc 348D is a heavy-duty sanding disc measuring 10 inches in diameter with a NH (no hole) design and 36 grit aluminum oxide abrasive. It features a high-strength pressure-sensitive adhesive backing that adheres securely to a backup pad or steel platen for efficient application and clean removal. The disc includes a heat-resistant resin bond and cloth backing, making it suitable for high heat and heavy-duty sanding applications. The aluminum oxide particles are arranged in a closed coat for fast cutting, ideal for grinding and dual action sanding on metal. This versatile disc is designed for deburring, blending, cleaning up, and finishing metal parts and surfaces of various sizes and shapes. The PSA disc is pressed onto a backup pad (sold separately) that is attached to disc sanders including random orbital and stationary disc sanders. Aluminum oxide abrasive is chosen for its fast cut rate, long life, toughness, and self-fracturing properties that expose fresh cutting edges during use, offering superior performance compared to traditional abrasives like garnet. This mineral is effective on a wide variety of materials, including ferrous alloys, and is commonly used in grinding, sanding, and finishing applications across metal fabrication and primary wood and panel processing industries. The heat-resistant resin ensures the abrasive remains bonded to the cloth backing even under conditions of high heat or pressure. The disc is suitable for blending, deburring, working flat areas, grinding, orbital sanding, and random orbital sanding in metal fabrication as well as primary wood and panel processing.
