The 3M™ PSA cloth disc 348D is an 18" diameter, 60 grit aluminum oxide heavy-duty sanding disc designed for high heat and heavy-duty sanding applications. It features a high-strength pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) backing that adheres securely to a backup pad or steel platen (backup pad sold separately), enabling efficient application and clean removal. The disc incorporates a heat-resistant resin bond and a durable cloth backing, providing stability under conditions of high heat and pressure. The abrasive is a closed coat of aluminum oxide particles chosen for fast cutting, long life, and suitability for grinding, dual action (D/A) sanding, deburring, blending, cleaning, and finishing metal parts and various surfaces. Aluminum oxide abrasive is known for its toughness, hardness, low heat retention, and self-fracturing ability, making it appropriate for a wide range of materials including ferrous alloys. The disc is intended for use on random orbital sanders, stationary disc sanders, and disc sanders with backup pads. Typical applications include blending, deburring, grinding, flat area sanding, orbital sanding in metal fabrication and primary wood and panel processing industries.
