The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning disc measures 48" in diameter and features a non-woven fiber construction with aluminum oxide abrasive of NH CRS grit. Designed for cleaning, blending, deburring, and finishing, the disc conforms well to irregular or contoured surfaces without undercutting or damaging the base material. Its durable open-web material runs cool and resists loading, enabling prolonged operation while the evenly distributed aluminum oxide abrasives provide a high cut-rate for consistent finishing. The aluminum oxide abrasive is favored for its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, long life, self-fracturing properties to expose fresh cutting edges, and low heat retention, making it suitable for woodworking and metalworking substrates, including ferrous alloys. This unique abrasive system integrates abrasives into non-woven nylon or synthetic fibers to deliver consistent performance throughout the product's life by limiting clogging. Typical applications include blending, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, light grinding, rust removal, and weld cleaning across industries such as aerospace, general industrial, marine, metalworking, maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO), and transportation and heavy equipment.
