The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ EX2 deburring wheel measures 8" x 1/2" x 3" and features a fine grit silicon carbide abrasive. This convolute-constructed wheel offers mid-range aggressiveness and hardness, suitable for deburring, edge radius, blending, polishing, and finishing tasks. It performs best on sharp edges or metal burrs and combines mineral aggressiveness with density hardness to provide a moderate degree of conformability, wheel hardness, and edge retention. The unique resin system minimizes smearing and reduces heat buildup, while the open-web construction allows the wheel to run cool and resist loading, reducing the risk of part discoloration, warping, and extending wheel life. The EX2 is available in fine and medium grades with silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasives; silicon carbide is sharp and designed for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation and finishing, producing a finer finish but breaking down faster, whereas aluminum oxide is hard, blocky, offers a high cut rate, and longer wheel life. Scotch-Brite industrial abrasives incorporate abrasive minerals into non-woven nylon or synthetic fibers to deliver consistent results throughout the product life, with an open-web material designed to run cool and limit clogging. Applications include blending, deburring, finishing, flat finishing, and polishing of builder’s hardware, medical instruments, metal fabrication, metal implants, and plumbing fixtures.
