The Sentry water cable barrier is an NCHRP 350 TL-3 certified work zone crash barrier, providing an effective alternative to traditional concrete barriers in construction zones. Each barrier features eleven (11) interlocking knuckles on each end, allowing multiple units to be linked using a 1" (30 mm) diameter galvanized hollow steel T-pin and a steel keeper pin. Molded into each Sentry are four (4)" (9.5 mm) diameter stranded steel cables, galvanized for optimal corrosion resistance, which prevent vehicles from penetrating the barrier wall and accessing the work zone or oncoming traffic. The barrier is tested to TL-2 and TL-3 crash ratings and is effective against lightweight 1,807 lbs (820 kg) and heavy 4,409 lbs (2,000 kg) vehicle impacts at speeds of 45 mph (70 kph) and 62.5 mph (100 kph). The Sentry water-cable barrier weighs 160 lbs (73 kg) when empty and 2,000 lbs (907 kg) when fully filled with 220 gal (832 l) of water. It has dimensions of 72 in (183 cm) in length, 43 in (109 cm) in height, and 22 in (57 cm) in width. Features include integrally molded corrosion-resistant steel cables that prevent vehicle breaches, stacking lugs for ease of storage and transport, forklift through holes, and pallet jack slots for quick movement. The interlocking knuckle design ensures a secure connection with up to a 15-degree rotation between sections, and an 8-inch (20.32 cm) diameter fill hole facilitates quick filling, complemented by a tamper-resistant drain plug with coarse buttress thread.
