The mills are equipped with a spindle assembly that utilizes Class 7210 (P4, ABEC-7) precision angular bearings, achieving an industry-leading spindle taper runout of 0.00012". The chromium molybdenum spindle is fully hardened through a carbonizing treatment and precision-ground to maintain strict tolerances. The seamless, one-piece steel quill is induction-hardened and chromed for increased strength and is precision-ground for greater accuracy. The Y and Z-axis ways are hand scraped to a minimum of 16 points per square inch, enhancing oil retention and smooth movement. Heat-treated and polished lead screws are supported by thrust bearings for smooth, incremental table movement under load, while an advanced double nut design controls table and saddle backlash, eliminating end-play for precise lateral control. A patented Vari-Disc key enhances wear resistance, and variable speed pulleys are ground and multi-plane dynamically balanced to reduce vibration and ensure smooth speed transitions. The ball bearing support of the motor shaft guarantees proper loading, support, and alignment for quiet, accurate operation at any speed. The hardened and ground table provides a stable and accurate platform for milling a diverse range of materials, and the mill is automatically lubricated every thirty minutes with a flow of 3 to 6 cc/cy. Additionally, a stainless steel Y-axis way cover provides extended protection compared to standard sheet metal covers. All Elite mills are CSA / CUS certified and come with a spindle safety guard, ensuring operator safety.
