The kit is designed for the safe collection of spilled mercury and includes a container that holds 125 ml of mercury. To use the kit, simply unscrew the lid which is equipped with a foam pad, then press the pad firmly onto the spill; this action forces the mercury into the pad. Once the lid is secured back onto the jar, the pad is compressed against the jar's freestanding perforated plate, allowing the mercury to be released into the bottom of the jar. The replacement pads are recommended to be affixed with rubber cement for secure attachment. The dimensions of the container are 10.5 x 4.8 cm O.D. (4-1/8 x 2 inches) high.
