Non-sterile disposable syringe filters with PTFE membranes are inherently hydrophobic, making them ideal for the filtration of nonpolar liquids and gases. Each kit includes a glass microfiber prefilter that enhances absorption capacity and loading. The membrane's hydrophilicity can be increased by flushing with alcohol followed by water. These filters exhibit excellent chemical compatibility, allowing for the filtration of harsh chemicals that may damage other membrane materials, and they are resistant to solvents as well as acids and bases. They are suitable for filtering viscous organic-based HPLC samples or for filtering and degassing chromatography solvents, and they are particularly effective for aerosol sampling. Additionally, they can serve as a moisture barrier for venting applications and for protecting vacuum pump lines. After pre-wetting with alcohol, the filters may also be used for fine particle removal in aqueous and mild organic solutions during ion chromatography. The syringe filters feature Luer-Lok™ and pressure fitting, are ultrasonically bonded for reliability, and clearly indicate the filter media type on the barrel. They boast excellent unit-to-unit and lot-to-lot reproducibility and consistency, while the unique concentric funnel-shaped barrel design increases volume and decreases back pressure.
