The kit includes biologically inert mixtures of cellulose acetate and cellulose nitrate, resulting in membranes with a smoother and more uniform surface compared to pure nitrocellulose filters. MCE membranes are easier to handle and less likely to crack or fracture than traditional CN membranes, featuring a pure surface without additional smoothing treatments or surfactants. The non-sterile version is bright white and possesses an accurate pore structure with a highly regulated density for precision. These membranes offer medium-fast flow rates and reproducible loading capacities. Clean-edge processing ensures easy separation from the stack and minimizes curl. The membranes are autoclavable and suitable for various applications, including clarification or sterilization of aqueous solutions, cytology, yeast and mold virus concentration, HPLC sample preparation of aqueous solutions, OSHA particle analysis, and food and beverage microbiological QA/QC. MCE membranes are recognized as the standard for microbiological growth and colony counting methods.
