Product Details
These cellulose filters create a hydrophobic barrier that can replace a separatory funnel to separate organic solvents from the aqueous phase. This grade demonstrates a fast flow rate with similar retention to the qualitative grade CFP1 filter paper, featuring a retention of 11 µm, a thickness of 0.20 mm, and a basis weight of 88.0 g/m². The paper is treated with immobilized silicone, allowing solvents to pass while retaining the aqueous phase. It is widely used in environmental studies and significantly reduces separation time compared to a separatory funnel. The filters can be utilized with a quadrant fold or cone fold in a filter funnel, or simply dropped into a Buchner funnel. They may be stacked with finer porosity filter paper or used in series for final filtration, thereby reducing solvent volume waste in many applications and aiding in higher recoveries. This mature product is a lab staple written into many standard methods and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
