The Merit red brass seamless standard pipe nipple measures 2-1/2 x 4-1/2 NPT male and is constructed from seamless red brass pipe, which is alloy 230. This type of brass nipple is easier to machine and less brittle than yellow brass, offering superior resistance to corrosion, including dezincification. The brass used provides good corrosion resistance against water and heat, as well as against attack from salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils contained in water. It is primarily utilized for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications but is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications.
