The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning disc measures 5 inches in diameter with a 7/8 inch arbor hole and features a CRS grit aluminum oxide abrasive. This disc is constructed from durable, non-woven fiber that conforms well to irregular or contoured surfaces without undercutting or damaging the base material. Its open-web design runs cool and resists loading, enabling prolonged operation while the evenly distributed aluminum oxide abrasives provide a high cut-rate for consistent finishing. Aluminum oxide, known for its toughness, long life, and self-fracturing ability to expose fresh cutting edges, is widely used for grinding, sanding, and finishing on various substrates including ferrous alloys in woodworking and metalworking. The disc’s abrasive system, combining aluminum oxide with synthetic fibers, ensures consistent results throughout its life by limiting clogging and maintaining cutting performance.
