The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning disc measures 2 inches in diameter and features a non-woven fiber construction with aluminum oxide abrasive, ideal for cleaning, blending, deburring, and finishing on irregular or contoured surfaces without damaging the base material. The disc utilizes open-web material that runs cool and resists loading, allowing prolonged use while maintaining a high cut rate due to evenly distributed aluminum oxide abrasives, which are durable and self-fracture to expose fresh cutting edges. Aluminum oxide, chosen for its cut rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, is suitable for various substrates in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The abrasive system combines synthetic fibers with abrasives to deliver consistent performance and minimize clogging. Typical applications include blending, cleaning, contour finishing, light grinding, rust removal, weld cleaning, and deburring across industries such as aerospace, general industrial, metalworking, MRO, transportation, and heavy equipment.
