The 3M™ PSA Cloth Disc 348D 9" x NH 80 grit aluminum oxide is a heavy-duty sanding disc designed with a high-strength pressure-sensitive adhesive backing that adheres securely to a backup pad or steel platen for efficient application and clean removal. It features a heat-resistant resin bond and cloth backing, making it suitable for high heat and heavy-duty sanding tasks. The disc utilizes aluminum oxide abrasive particles in a closed coat configuration to deliver a fast cut for grinding and dual action (D/A) sanding on metal surfaces. This versatile sanding disc is ideal for deburring, blending, cleaning, and finishing metal parts and surfaces of various sizes and shapes. It is intended for use with a pressure-sensitive adhesive disc pressed onto a backup pad (sold separately), which is then attached to disc sanders, random orbital sanders, or stationary disc sanders. Aluminum oxide is chosen for its fast cut rate, long life, toughness, durability, and self-fracturing properties that expose fresh cutting edges during use, outperforming traditional abrasives like garnet. The heat-resistant resin bond ensures the abrasive remains stable under high heat or pressure conditions. Typical applications include blending, deburring, grinding, orbital sanding, and metal fabrication, primarily serving industries such as metal fabrication and primary wood and panel processing.
