The 3M™ 982C fiber disc measures 5" x 7/8" and features precision shaped ceramic grain with a grit rating of 36+. It is specifically designed for various industries, including metal fabrication, and is suitable for applications such as edge beveling, edge chamfering, gate removal, grinding, high-pressure grinding, right angle grinding, and weld removal and finishing. The primary application is metalworking, and the 3M™ Cubitron™ II fiber disc 982C is optimized for tasks like edge chamfering, beveling, and removing carbon steel welds, mill scale, pits, imperfections, and machining grooves. Utilizing proprietary Cubitron™ II technology, this product employs triangular shaped grains that are electrostatically oriented on the backing to form sharp peaks, maximizing cutting potential. These peaks function like individual cutting tools that slice through metal and maintain their sharpness as they break off. The grains are designed to wear evenly and self-sharpen, which reduces heat from friction, providing up to twice the life of standard fiber discs and requiring less grinding pressure. Consequently, Cubitron™ II discs demonstrate superior cutting and longevity compared to conventional ceramic industrial abrasive discs, enhancing productivity and minimizing operator fatigue. The heavy-duty fiber discs are crafted with a tough, stiff backing made from vulcanized fiber that resists wear and is capable of tackling demanding grinding applications.
