The 3M™ Cubitron™ II Fibre Disc Quick Change 982C has a 5" diameter and uses GL ceramic grain with 36+ grit. It is designed for edge chamfering, beveling, and removing carbon steel welds, mill scale, pits, imperfections, and machining grooves. The disc features proprietary Cubitron™ II technology, which utilizes 3M™ ceramic abrasive grain combined with 3M precision shaped grain technology to create triangular shaped grains that are electrostatically oriented on the backing. These sharp peaks act as individual cutting tools that slice through metal and continuously self-sharpen, resulting in even wear and reduced friction heat. This technology provides up to twice the life of other fiber discs with less grinding pressure. The fiber disc is constructed with a tough, stiff vulcanized fiber backing that resists wear and handles heavy-duty grinding applications such as weld removal, grinding, and blending metal surfaces. It is suitable for applications including edge beveling, edge chamfering, gate removal, high pressure grinding, right angle grinding, weld removal, and finishing.
