The 3M™ PSA cloth disc 348D measures 24" in diameter with a NH (non-hole) configuration and features 36 grit aluminum oxide abrasive. It is a heavy-duty sanding disc equipped with a high-strength, pressure-sensitive adhesive backing that securely adheres to a backup pad or steel platen for efficient application and clean removal. The disc has a heat-resistant resin bond and cloth backing, making it suitable for high heat and heavy-duty sanding applications. The aluminum oxide abrasive is arranged in a closed coat, providing a fast cut rate ideal for grinding and dual action sanding on metal surfaces. This versatile disc is designed for deburring, blending, cleaning up, and finishing metal parts and various shapes and sizes, applicable in metal fabrication and primary wood and panel processing industries. The pressure-sensitive adhesive allows the disc to be pressed onto a backup pad, which is sold separately and used with disc sanders such as random orbital or stationary sanders. Aluminum oxide is chosen for its durability, fast cut rate, long life, self-fracturing property exposing fresh cutting edges during use, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, making it effective on ferrous alloys and a wide variety of woodworking and metalworking materials. The heat-resistant resin bond maintains abrasive stability under high heat or pressure conditions. The typical applications include blending, deburring, flat area grinding, orbital sanding, and random orbital sanding in metal fabrication and wood panel processing.
