The 3M™ PSA Cloth Disc 348D 2" x NH 60 grit aluminum oxide is a heavy-duty sanding disc featuring a high-strength pressure-sensitive adhesive backing designed to adhere securely to a backup pad or steel platen for efficient application and clean removal. It incorporates a heat-resistant resin bond and cloth backing, making it suitable for high heat and heavy-duty sanding tasks. The disc uses aluminum oxide abrasive in a closed coat configuration, providing a fast cut for grinding and dual action (D/A) sanding on metal surfaces. This versatile disc is ideal for deburring, blending, cleaning, and finishing metal parts and surfaces of various sizes and shapes. The PSA backing allows easy attachment to backup pads sold separately, which can be mounted on disc sanders, random orbital sanders, or stationary disc sanders. Aluminum oxide is chosen for its fast cut rate, long life, toughness, and strength, as it self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges during use, making it effective on a wide range of materials including ferrous alloys. The heat-resistant resin bond maintains abrasive adhesion and bond stability under high heat and pressure conditions. Recommended applications include blending, deburring, grinding, orbital sanding, and random orbital sanding, particularly in metal fabrication and primary wood and panel processing industries.
