It is available with either silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals; silicon carbide is a sharp synthetic mineral suited for low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing, producing a finer finish but breaking down faster, while aluminum oxide is a hard, blocky mineral offering a high cut rate and long life. The 3M™ Roloc™ quick change discs are smaller discs that attach securely to a Roloc™ disc pad (sold separately), facilitating quick swap between different jobs or multi-step finishing processes. The attachment system is secure enough for heavy-duty applications, and discs are color-coded by grade for easy identification.
