FEP rods and sheets are made from fluorinated ethylene propylene, a relatively soft thermoplastic known for its chemical inertness and low dielectric constant across a wide frequency range. This material exhibits a very high degree of stress crack resistance, a low coefficient of friction, and exceptional dielectric properties. It can withstand heat up to 400°F (204°C) while retaining useful properties even at -454°F (-270°C). FEP also complies with FDA 21 CFR 177.1550, ensuring its suitability for various applications. Additionally, it features high transparency with good transmittance of ultraviolet and visible wavelengths and offers the lowest refractive index of all thermoplastics, resulting in low light reflection similar to that of water.
