Fish paper, also known as vulcanized fiber, is a robust paperboard insulation renowned for its outstanding electrical insulating properties. This flexible material is commonly die cut and machined for various applications, particularly in electrical insulation. Fish paper is extremely durable and is available in both sheet stock and custom parts, with thicknesses ranging from .0078" to .375". The most prevalent type is the standard electrical grade, typically ranging from .0078" to .062" thick, which is characterized by its excellent electrical insulating capabilities, flexibility, and good forming characteristics, making it suitable for applications like slot wedge insulation. The standard color for this grade is grey. Vulcanized fiber is marketed under various trade names, including Peerless, Vulcanex, Forbon, and Armite.
