Kapton® film (Type HN Kapton) polyimide film from DuPont features more than 50 years of proven performance as a flexible material suited for applications involving extreme temperature conditions, ranging from -269°C (-452°F) to 400°C (752°F). It is utilized in various applications, including substrates for flexible printed circuits, transformer and capacitor insulation, sensors, bar code labels, wire and cable tapes, formed coil insulation, motor slot liners, magnet wire insulation, magnetic and pressure-sensitive tapes, and tubing. This film is characterized by its ability to maintain excellent physical, electrical, and mechanical properties across a wide temperature range, facilitating new design and application possibilities in multiple industries. Kapton® HN film is versatile, capable of being laminated, metallized, punched, formed, or adhesive coated, and is available in thicknesses from 0.0003" (7.5 µm) to 0.005" (125 µm). Additional grades of Kapton are available with features such as antistatic properties, thermal conductivity, PTFE coating, cryogenic insulation, corona resistance, etchability, pigmentation for color, and conformability.
