Ketron® PEEK 1000 is a virgin, unfilled polyetheretherketone known for its exceptional chemical and hydrolysis resistance, comparable to PPS, while being able to operate at higher temperatures. It is suitable for continuous use up to 480°F (250°C) and can withstand exposure to hot water or steam without a permanent loss of physical properties. This high-strength material serves as a viable alternative to fluoropolymers in hostile environments, carrying a UL 94 V-O flammability rating and demonstrating very low smoke and toxic gas emissions when exposed to flame. The unreinforced grade offers the highest elongation and toughness among PEEK types, with the newly available black PEEK 1000 being particularly ideal for applications requiring aesthetic considerations as well as ductility and inertness for seal components.
