Kapton® film (Type HN Kapton) polyimide film from DuPont is recognized for its reliable performance over more than 50 years, particularly in applications that require resilience to extreme temperatures ranging from 400°C (752°F) to -269°C (-452°F). This versatile material is utilized across various applications, including substrates for flexible printed circuits, insulation for transformers and capacitors, sensors, bar code labels, wire and cable tapes, formed coil insulation, motor slot liners, and magnetic and pressure-sensitive tapes. Kapton® polyimide film is known for its unique combination of physical, electrical, and mechanical properties that endure over a wide temperature range, thereby facilitating innovative designs and uses in multiple industries. It is available in thicknesses from 0.0003" (7.5 μm) to 0.005" (125 μm) and offers several additional attributes in other grades, such as antistatic properties, thermal conductivity, PTFE coating, cryogenic insulation, corona resistance, etchability, color pigmentation, and conformability. The film can also be laminated, metallized, punched, formed, or adhesive coated, making it adaptable for various technical and industrial applications.
