Kapton® film (Type HN Kapton) polyimide film from DuPont has over 50 years of proven performance as the flexible material of choice in applications involving extreme temperatures, specifically very high, 400°C (752°F), or very low, -269°C (-452°F). This versatile film is utilized in a broad range of applications such as substrates for flexible printed circuits, insulation for transformers and capacitors, sensors, bar code labels, wire and cable tapes, formed coil insulation, motor slot liners, magnet wire insulation, and magnetic and pressure-sensitive tapes. Kapton® polyimide film is recognized for its unique combination of properties, making it ideal for diverse applications across various industries. It maintains excellent physical, electrical, and mechanical properties over wide temperature ranges, which has enhanced design and application possibilities for plastic films. DuPont™ Kapton® HN film performs exceptionally well in both low and high temperature environments. This type of film can be laminated, metallized, punched, formed, or adhesive coated and is available in thicknesses ranging from 0.0003" (7.5 µm) to 0.005" (125 µm). Additional grades of Kapton are offered with attributes such as antistatic, thermally conductive, PTFE coated, cryogenic insulation, corona resistant, etchable, pigmented for color, and conformable.
