Rexolite® is a unique cross-linked polystyrene microwave plastic, specifically designed for high-frequency circuit substrates, microwave components, and lenses utilized in acoustic, optical, and radio-frequency applications. It includes two forms: Rexolite® 1422 and the now discontinued Rexolite® 2200, which was a fiberglass reinforced version of 1422. Rexolite 1422 is characterized as a thermoset cross-linked styrene copolymer that exhibits good physical properties and excellent electrical properties, including low loss and a stable dielectric constant, making it ideal for microwave lenses and precision components. This material meets the requirements of L-P-516A (Type E2), formerly MIL-P-77 (Type E-2). Rexolite 2200 was known for its glass mat reinforcement, which provided enhanced temperature stability and strength, making it suitable for missile applications and other environments where extreme cold, thermal shock, and mechanical stress occur, primarily used in printed circuit boards.
