Fish paper, also known as fishpaper or vulcanized fibre, is a strong paperboard insulation primarily utilized for its excellent electrical insulating properties. This material is very flexible and commonly die cut and machined, making it suitable for numerous electrical insulation applications. Fish paper is extremely durable and is available in both sheet stock and custom parts, with a thickness range between .0078" and .375". It is produced in several colors and grades, with the most prevalent being the standard electrical grade, which typically ranges from .0078" to .062" thick. This grade offers very good electrical insulating properties, enhanced flexibility, and good forming capabilities, ideal for applications such as slot wedge insulation, and is typically available in a standard grey color. Vulcanized fibre is marketed under various tradenames, including Peerless, Vulcanex, Forbon, and Armite.
