Fish paper, also known as fishpaper or vulcanized fiber, is a robust paperboard insulation predominantly utilized for its exceptional electrical insulating characteristics. This material is highly flexible and frequently die cut and machined for various applications. Fish paper is exceptionally durable, available in both sheet stock and custom parts, and is produced in thicknesses ranging from .0078" to .375". The standard grade, known as standard electrical grade vulcanized fiber, is typically manufactured in thinner gauges, specifically from .0078" to .062" thick, and is recognized for its superior electrical insulating properties and flexibility, making it suitable for applications such as slot wedge insulation. The standard color for this grade is grey. Fish paper is marketed under several tradenames, including Peerless, Vulcanex, Forbon, and Armite.
