Product Details
Nomex® aramid paper sheets and tubes, produced by DuPont, are high-temperature resistant insulation products known for their excellent balance of physical and electrical properties. These materials are made entirely from synthetic aramid polymer in two forms: short fibers (floc) and microscopic fibrous binder particles (fibrids). Nomex is commonly employed as electrical insulation in liquid and dry transformers, motors, and generators. Nomex Type 410 is a calendered insulation paper that provides high inherent dielectric strength, mechanical toughness, flexibility, and resilience, making it the original and widely used form of Nomex paper for various electrical equipment applications. It is available in 11 thicknesses ranging from 2 to 30 mils (0.05 to 0.76 mm) and maintains a dielectric strength of 300 V/mil (12 kV/mm) for several hours at temperatures up to 400°C (750°F). Nomex Type 411, which is uncalendered, comes in thicknesses from 0.13 mm to 0.58 mm and is often used as a soft cushioning material where conformability and impregnability are essential. Additional types include Nomex® Type 414, Type 418, Nomex® pressboard, T992, T993, and T994.
