Nomex® aramid paper sheets and tubes, produced by DuPont, are high-temperature resistant insulation products known for their excellent balance of physical and electrical properties. Made entirely from synthetic aramid polymer, Nomex is available in two forms: short fibers (floc) and microscopic fibrous binder particles (fibrids). The Nomex Type 410, a calendered insulation paper, showcases high inherent dielectric strength, mechanical toughness, flexibility, and resilience, making it suitable for a wide range of electrical equipment applications. This type is available in 11 thicknesses ranging from 2 to 30 mils (0.05 to 0.76 mm) and can maintain a dielectric strength of 300 V/mil (12 kV/mm) for several hours at temperatures up to 400°C (750°F). Additionally, Nomex Type 411, which is uncalendered, is offered in thicknesses from 0.13 mm to 0.58 mm and is often utilized as soft cushioning material where conformability and impregnability are crucial. Other available types include Nomex® Type 414, Type 418, Nomex® pressboard, T992, T993, and T994.
