Ertalyte® TX is a high-performance, unreinforced semi-crystalline thermoplastic polyester (PET-P) designed for machining high-wear-resistant parts. This material features a solid lubricant filler and demonstrates excellent performance under high-pressure and high-velocity conditions, making it particularly suitable for applications involving soft metal and plastic mating surfaces. Key properties of Ertalite TX include high strength and stiffness, exceptional wear resistance, very good dimensional stability, high creep resistance, and excellent chemical resistance. These attributes make it ideal for machining bushings and bearings that do not require startup or running lubrication. Ertalite TX is compliant with FDA and USDA standards, making it an excellent choice for food packaging and processing equipment. Compared to competitive filled polyethylene terephthalate polymers, Ertalite TX shapes provide superior dimensional stability, wear resistance, and low-friction characteristics. It also serves as an excellent replacement for full-strength Delrin® AF when parts come into contact with food. The standard sheet size is 24" x 39.4", and standard rods are available in 10-foot lengths, which may be cut in half for FedEx or UPS shipping to reduce freight costs.
