Insul-Tube® is designed to retard heat gain and prevent condensation or frost formation on refrigerant lines, cold water plumbing, and chilled water systems, while also hindering heat flow for hot water plumbing, liquid heating, dual temperature piping, and various solar systems. This product, tailored for the HVAC and refrigeration industry, is non-porous, non-fibrous, and mold-resistant due to the incorporation of an EPA registered antimicrobial agent that protects against mold, fungal, and bacterial growth. Made from a UV resistant elastomeric blend, Insul-Tube® requires no additional protective coating for moderate UV exposure, but for severe conditions, such as rooftop applications or where optimum performance is essential, a 374 protective coating or approved jacketing or cladding is recommended. It complies with specifications including ASTM C 534 Type 1 (tubing) Grade 1, ASTM D 1056-00-2C1, New York City MEA 186-86-M Vol. IV, and USDA requirements. The product has a UL 94-5V flammability classification (recognition No. E300774), ASTM E 84 2" 25/50-tested according to UL 723 and NFPA 255, and meets requirements of CAN/ULC S102 03. It is also listed in the FMRC Approval Guide Chapter 14 for pipe insulation, holds an NFPA No. 101 Class A rating, and meets NFPA 90A Sect. 2.3.3 requirements for supplementary materials for air distribution systems. Furthermore, it complies with ASTM C 411 test methods and UL 181 sections 11.0 and 16.0 regarding mold growth and air erosion.
