Insul-Tube® is a 6-foot long pipe insulation with a nominal inner diameter of 1/2 inch and a wall thickness of 3/8 inch, designed to retard heat gain and prevent condensation or frost formation on refrigerant lines, cold water plumbing, and chilled water systems. It also effectively reduces heat flow for hot water plumbing, liquid heating, dual temperature piping, and many solar systems. This product, specifically engineered for the HVAC and refrigeration industry, is non-porous, non-fibrous, and resistant to mold growth due to the incorporation of an EPA registered antimicrobial agent. Insul-Tube® is crafted from a UV resistant elastomeric blend and, while no additional protective coating is necessary for moderate UV exposure, a protective coating such as 374 or approved jacketing/cladding is advised for severe UV exposure conditions such as rooftop applications. The insulation complies with various specifications, including ASTM C 534 Type 1 (tubing) Grade 1, ASTM D 1056-00-2C1, New York City MEA 186-86-M Vol. IV, and USDA requirements. It has a UL 94-5V flammability classification (recognition No. E300774), meets ASTM E 84 2" 25/50 tested according to UL 723 and NFPA 255, and adheres to the requirements of CAN/ULC S102 03. Additionally, it holds FMRC approval guide chapter 14 for pipe insulation, a NFPA No. 101 class A rating, meets NFPA 90A sect. 2.3.3 for supplementary materials for air distribution systems, and complies with ASTM C 411 (hot surface performance of high temperature thermal insulation) as well as UL 181 sections 11.0 and 16.0 (mold growth/air erosion).
