Insul-Tube® is designed to retard heat gain and prevent condensation or frost formation on refrigerant lines, cold water plumbing, and chilled water systems, while also retarding heat flow for hot water plumbing, liquid heating, dual temperature piping, and various solar systems. Specifically engineered for the HVAC and refrigeration industry, Insul-Tube® features a non-porous, non-fibrous construction that resists mold growth and incorporates an EPA registered antimicrobial agent for added protection against mold, fungal, and bacterial growth. It is made from a UV resistant elastomeric blend, eliminating the need for additional protective coating under moderate UV exposure; however, for severe UV exposure, such as rooftop applications, the use of 374 protective coating or approved jacketing or cladding is recommended. The product complies with multiple specifications including ASTM C 534 Type 1 (tubing) Grade 1, ASTM D 1056-00-2C1 New York City MEA 186-86-M Vol. IV USDA requirements, and has a UL 94-5V flammability classification (recognition no. E300774). It has also been tested according to ASTM E 84 2" 25/50 in compliance with UL 723 and NFPA 255, meets the requirements of CAN/ULC S102 03, and holds FMRC approval per chapter 14 for pipe insulation. Additionally, it has an NFPA no. 101 class A rating and satisfies the requirements of NFPA 90A sect. 2.3.3 for supplementary materials in air distribution systems, as well as ASTM C 411 regarding hot surface performance of high temperature thermal insulation, and UL 181 sections 11.0 and 16.0 for mold growth/air erosion.
