Insul-Tube® is designed to retard heat gain and prevent condensation or frost formation on refrigerant lines, cold water plumbing, and chilled water systems, while also providing thermal resistance for hot water plumbing, liquid heating, dual temperature piping, and various solar systems. Specifically formulated for the HVAC and refrigeration industry, Insul-Tube® features a non-porous, non-fibrous structure that resists mold growth, supplemented by an EPA registered antimicrobial agent to enhance protection against mold, fungal, and bacterial growth. The insulation is constructed from a UV resistant elastomeric blend, eliminating the need for additional protective coating under moderate UV exposure. However, for environments with severe UV exposure, such as rooftop applications, a protective coating or approved jacketing/cladding, like 374, is recommended. The product complies with multiple specifications including ASTM C 534 Type 1 (tubing) Grade 1, ASTM D 1056-00-2C1, New York City MEA 186-86-M Vol. IV, and USDA requirements. It also adheres to UL 94-5V flammability classification (recognition No. E300774) and meets ASTM E 84 2" 25/50 testing as per UL 723 and NFPA 255, alongside compliance with CAN/ULC S102 03 and FMRC approval guide chapter 14 for pipe insulation. Additionally, it holds an NFPA No. 101 Class A rating and fulfills requirements of NFPA 90A Sect. 2.3.3 for supplementary materials in air distribution systems, as well as ASTM C 411 for hot surface performance of high temperature thermal insulation and UL 181 sections 11.0 and 16.0 concerning mold growth and air erosion.
