Insul-Tube® is a 6-foot insulation product with a 1-inch wall thickness and a nominal inner diameter of 2-1/8 inches, designed specifically for use in the HVAC and refrigeration industry. It effectively retards heat gain and prevents condensation or frost formation on refrigerant lines, cold water plumbing, and chilled water systems, while also minimizing heat flow in hot water plumbing, liquid heating, dual temperature piping, and various solar applications. The insulation is non-porous, non-fibrous, and resistant to mold growth due to an EPA registered antimicrobial agent integrated into the product. Constructed from a UV resistant elastomeric blend, it requires no additional protective coating for moderate UV exposure; however, for severe UV exposure, such as rooftop applications, a protective coating or approved jacketing is recommended. Insul-Tube® complies with numerous specifications including ASTM C 534 Type 1 (tubing) Grade 1, ASTM D 1056-00-2C1, New York City MEA 186-86-M Vol. IV, and USDA requirements. It has a UL 94-5V flammability classification (recognition no. E300774) and has passed ASTM E 84 2" 25/50 tests, complying with requirements of CAN/ULC S102 03. The product holds FMRC approval per chapter 14 for pipe insulation, a NFPA no. 101 class A rating, and meets requirements of NFPA 90A sect. 2.3.3 for supplementary materials for air distribution systems, as well as ASTM C 411 for hot surface performance of high temperature thermal insulation and UL 181 sections 11.0 and 16.0 regarding mold growth and air erosion.
