Insul-Tube® is designed to retard heat gain and prevent condensation or frost formation on refrigerant lines, cold water plumbing, and chilled water systems, while also retarding heat flow for hot water plumbing, liquid heating, dual temperature piping, and various solar systems. This product is specifically engineered for the HVAC and refrigeration industry and features a non-porous, non-fibrous structure that resists mold growth, enhanced by an EPA registered antimicrobial agent for added protection against mold, fungal, and bacterial growth. Insul-Tube® pipe insulation is constructed from a UV resistant elastomeric blend, requiring no additional protective coating for moderate UV exposure, but recommending a protective coating, approved jacketing, or cladding for severe UV exposure, such as in rooftop applications. It complies with several specifications including ASTM C 534 Type 1 (tubing) Grade 1, ASTM D 1056-00-2C1, New York City MEA 186-86-M Vol. IV, USDA requirements, and has a UL 94-5V flammability classification (recognition no. E300774). It passes ASTM E 84 2" 25/50 tested according to UL 723 and NFPA 255, conforms to CAN/ULC S102 03 requirements, and holds FMRC approval per chapter 14 for pipe insulation. Furthermore, it meets NFPA No. 101 class A rating and fulfills the requirements of NFPA 90A sect. 2.3.3 for supplementary materials for air distribution systems, as well as ASTM C 411 (hot surface performance of high temperature thermal insulation) and UL 181 sections 11.0 and 16.0 (mold growth/air erosion).
