The Kimble® KIMAX® microfiltration assembly is a 47 mm vacuum microfiltration unit designed for analyzing particulate or microbiological contamination in samples up to 500 ml. It features a stainless steel support, making it suitable for filtering viscous or proteinaceous solutions as well as producing ultra-clean filtrate. The kit includes a 304 stainless steel support screen, a PTFE support screen gasket, a glass support base, a 300 ml graduated funnel that is graduated from 100 to 250 ml in 25 ml increments, an anodized aluminum clamp, and a #8 silicone stopper. The prefilter size is 35 mm, with an approximate filter area of 9.6 cm², constructed from 80 x 80 304 stainless steel mesh with an opening size of 0.0055", a 19.4% open area, and a wire diameter of 0.007". The connection to a compatible 1 liter filtration flask (available as an accessory) is facilitated by the #8 silicone stopper. Additionally, it is manufactured from 33 expansion, low extractable borosilicate glass, conforming to USP Type I and ASTM E438, Type I, Class A requirements.
