The versatile 'Space Pen' is designed to write clearly on wet, greasy, and other hard-to-mark surfaces, making it suitable for various challenging conditions. It can be used underwater, upside down, and in extreme temperatures, making it an excellent choice for marking slots on Southern, Northern, and Western blots or aligning dots on blotting filters over agar plates containing bacterial colonies or phage plaques. It facilitates marking lanes on wet blots before cutting filters into strips for separate incubation with different antisera or probes. The pen can also be used to correct or write on wet labels stored in a water bath, in liquid nitrogen, or at temperatures as low as -20°C (-4°F). This pen is particularly useful for marking filters during processing in underwater-based buffers and for writing on vertical surfaces, including the Economy Write-On™ label tape dispenser (F13473-0000) and wall mount adapter (F13473-0001). In addition, it functions effectively as a standard ballpoint pen on dry paper.
