Rugged Carboys are 21 CFR 177.1520 compliant for direct contact with foods and beverages and are USP Class VI certified for the demands of the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. They are designed for storing and dispensing large batches of culture media, distilled water, and other solutions, featuring excellent chemical resistance and large handles for easy transport. All components are constructed from FDA-grade polypropylene and are steam autoclavable at 121°C (250°F); it is important not to engage cap threads during autoclaving. The carboys include an 83mm screw cap with a built-in thermoplastic elastomer washer for a positive seal, and a molded-in bung that accepts an easy-to-use spigot, which is positioned low on the carboy for more complete drainage. They are available with or without a spigot.
