The kit features a clear acrylic, hinged cover that allows for observation of small animals during anesthetizing, with a maximum interior diameter of 19.7 cm (7") and a top interior diameter of 17.8 cm (7"). The height from the platform to the top is 12.7 cm (5"), while the height under the platform is 5.7 cm (2"), resulting in an overall height of 19.7 cm (7"). The cover along with additional polypropylene components are designed to be unaffected by anesthetic compounds. A folding perforated platform can be removed to fill the bottom with cotton, which is then replaced to support the animal. An anesthetic is poured into a small funnel located at the side, allowing it to flow into the bottom of the chamber where it is absorbed by the cotton. The stopcock facilitates the entrance of fresh air during anesthesia to prevent suffocation and is compatible with 4 mm-6 mm I.D. tubing.
